I have lived my entire life in San Clemente. I even ran for City Council twice in my youth as a preservation candidate. Preservation was a dirty word even back then. Yes, I have a nostalgic connection to the theatre. My parents ushered there as teenagers. I spent 20 years as a Disney Imagineer and five more with Universal Studios in live show concept development and installation for projects worldwide. Many more years were spent aboard cruise ships in various entertainment jobs. More recently I have been enjoying life as Special Events and Show Producer employed by the only 6-star cruise line, in its class, in the world. I know something about live theatre. I have drawn from this resume to write a business plan for the revival of the theatre that I have been showing to my colleagues, staff, passengers, band, singers, dancers, techs, musicians and friends at Disney, and Universal. If the money to empower the Foundation for the San Clemente Cinema and Performing Arts to revive the SC Theatre won’t come locally, I will tap these supporter-visionaries.
And this is me a hundred years ago when times for the theatre were getting really rough.
